Aucuba Mr. Goldstrike Shrubs for Sale Online
Mr. Goldstrike Aucuba is one of the easiest to grow plants requiring the lowest maintenance. You'll soon realize it's one of the most attractive plants in your shade garden. The large, dark green leaves look as though they've been speckled with yellow paint, adding a tropical feel to any garden. Mr. Goldstrike Aucuba is exceptionally easy to grow in locations that provide well-draining soil and shade or morning sun with afternoon shade. The hot afternoon sun will scorch the leaves causing them to turn black in color. It is very drought tolerant when established making it suitable for growing under larger shade trees where not many other plants will grow.
No pruning is required though stray or broken branches can be removed any time of year. Creates an interesting privacy hedge in a shady location where not many choices are available. Mr. Goldstrike Aucuba is able to withstand at least some salt in the air and soil, so you could use this in a location near the ocean. It will also do well in urban areas where the roads are sometimes salted to keep away snow. Air pollution is also tolerated. If you want at least some of your shrubs to have the beautiful red fruits, this male cultivar, one male plant will pollinate up to 6 females.

How to Care for Mr Goldstrike Aucuba
We suggest when planting your newly purchased Mr Goldstrike Aucuba plants that you dig a hole twice as wide as the root system but not deeper. Depending on the quality of your existing soil you may need to add a locally sourced compost or topsoil to the back-fill soil. We do not recommend using straight topsoil or compost as a back-fill soil because more times than not these products will retain entirely to much moisture and will cause the root system to rot. Adding compost or topsoil will help the young feeder roots of Mr. Goldstrike Aucuba to spread through the loose, nutrient rich soil, much easier than if you used solely the existing soil which more times than not will be hard and compacted. The most common cause of plant death after transplanting is planting the new plant to deep. That is why we do not recommend planting in a hole any deeper than the soil line of the plant in the pot. A good rule is that you should still be able to see the soil the plant was grown in after back-filling the hole. Mr Goldstrike Aucuba versatile shrub can be planted in almost all soils. It does not like to have wet feet and may develop root rot if the soil is wet most of the time. Bio-tone starter fertilizer is a great starter fertilizer that provides plants with mycorrhizae fungus. It is a naturally occurring beneficial fungus that colonizes on the new growing roots of plants. It creates a barrier between the roots of the plant and fungus and pathogens that can cause root rot. We love this product and use it on all plants we install in our own gardens. Bio-tone is a gardeners best friend and can help guarantee your success.
