Serviceberry Trees for Sale Online

Serviceberry trees have a beautiful natural shape and produce edible fruit. These trees reward people with a showstopping display of showy white flowers that look like lilacs in the spring. In the fall, their foliage turns into a reddish-orange color and is complemented by the trunk's gray bark. Your serviceberry tree can grow upwards of 6 to 20 feet at full maturity and grows in growing zones 2 through 9. This tree loves to be in full sun, well-draining and moist soil conditions, and a regular fertilization schedule during its growing season.

How to Care for Serviceberry Trees:

Water

Serviceberry trees prefer enough water to keep their soil moist but not soggy. Soil that is too wet and overly saturated could damage your tree's roots. When the top 3 to 4 inches of soil feel dry, you are welcome to irrigate it. Planting your tree in well-draining soil is very crucial for the success and longevity of your tree.

Fertilizer

In six-week increments, you can use organic fertilizer for your tree. We recommend applying it around the drip line to keep your Serviceberry trees growing healthy and strong.

Soil

Your tree loves to be in sandy soil that will require a more frequent watering schedule. Your tree also prefers to be in soil with a pH of 6,0 to 7.8. Sandy soil requires more water because it retains less moisture and drains quicker than loam soil. Well-draining soil is also crucial to ensure your tree grows healthy with no diseases caused by overwatering. If you live in a humid climate, your tree will need less water than if you lived in a dry climate.

Mulch

We recommend placing about a 2-inch layer of mulch around your plant to help with moisture retention. Doing so will help your tree's soil stay nice and moist, exactly how your tree prefers it to be. If you are applying mulch around your tree, the best time to do so is in early spring. Mulch around the base of your plant also adds a nice decorative effect. Be sure not to allow the mulch to touch the trunk of your tree.

Sunlight

Serviceberry trees grow well in many sunlight conditions; however, they prefer to be in full sun. Doing so will ensure your tree produces the best tasting and largest harvest of fruit. If your landscape does not receive enough full sunlight, your tree will still thrive and produce fruit in part shade. If your tree is in part shade or has some hours of full shade throughout the day, you will notice your tree producing less fruit throughout the growing season.
