It is better to underwater than overwater a pleomele plant, since overwatering will create mushy stems and could cause root rot. Once the soil feels dry to the touch an inch down, then water thoroughly until water drains out of the bottom of the container into the tray below. Once all the water has drained, you can pour that excess water back into the soil to let it absorb more.
