Silver Thyme

Silver Thyme's growing season is from mid to late summer, and its dormancy season is from fall to winter. Do not prune your plant during its dormancy season because this could cause damage to its upcoming growing season the following year. However, we recommend that you prune your perennial in early spring. Doing so will remove any dead or unwanted leaves, stems, etc., and make room for new growth in the upcoming months. You may carefully prune your plant during its growing season, but only if there are visible dead or dying parts. Do so carefully and with clean pruning shears.

All thyme plants, including Silver Thyme, possess excellent mosquito-repelling properties. The secret to releasing these properties is by crushing their leaves to release their fragrant oils. There are a variety of ways you can use these crushed leaves to repel bugs like mosquitos. You can place the crushed stems in a decorative dish around outdoor seating areas, or they are safe to rub on skin or clothing.

This perennial makes a beautiful and fragrant groundcover or container plant. Try planting this perennial in rock gardens, between stepping stones, as a border, or in a container on your patio. Their small and compact shape allows them to be in many spots of your garden without taking up too much space. You can also use their dried leaves as flavor and spice in cooking. Try using them to flavor fish, poultry, vegetables, soups, and more.
