Blue-Eyed Grass

Blue-eyed grass prefers to be moist but not wet. Once established Sisyrinchium does not require supplemental watering except during long periods of drought. Average garden soil is perfect for blue-eyed grass. Avoid wet areas.

Blue-eyed grass does not like to be mulched to heavy. A thin layer of mulch is best as mulching to thick can cause the crown of the plant to rot.

Blue-eyed grass can be divided every two to three years. The clump can be lifted from the garden after flowering and divided into quarters and replanted. Water well after dividing to avoid stress caused by the dividing process.

Blue-eyed grass is typically not bothered by deer except under extreme conditions which effect the deer's natural sources of food.

Sisyrinchium Lucerne is a good choice for use as a groundcover, mass plantings or as an edging plant for a cottage garden or mixed perennial border. Sisyrinchium angustifolium ‘Lucerne’ has showy flowers and attractive grass-like foliage. It can be naturalized in lawns or planted in meadow gardens, dappled shade gardens and wildlife plantings.
