Pugster Blue Butterfly Bush for Sale Online
Pugster Blue Buddleia is an extremely compact blue flower butterfly bush that performs well with minimal care. Designed for full sun, Pugster Blue is one color in a series developed by Proven Winners. Highly deer and rabbit resistant, too!
Meet Buddleia Pugster Blue - it's a whole new look for butterfly bush. This compact plant reaches just 2'/.6 m tall and wide but has the large, full flowers normally seen on a much larger plant. It blooms non-stop from early summer through frost with true-blue flowers, each with a tiny yellow-orange eye in the center. Thanks to thick, sturdy stems, the Pugster® series offers vastly improved hardiness and winter survival over other types of dwarf butterfly bush.
We suggest when planting your newly purchased Buddleia Pugster Blue plants that you dig a hole twice as wide as the root system but not deeper. Depending on the quality of your existing soil you may need to add a locally sourced compost or topsoil to the back-fill soil. We do not recommend using straight topsoil or compost as a back-fill soil because more times than not these products will retain entirely to much moisture and will cause the root system to rot. Adding compost or topsoil will help the young feeder roots of Buddleia Pugster Blue to spread through the loose, nutrient rich soil, much easier than if you used solely the existing soil which more times than not will be hard and compacted. The most common cause of plant death after transplanting is planting the new plant to deep. That is why we do not recommend planting in a hole any deeper than the soil line of the plant in the pot. A good rule is that you should still be able to see the soil the plant was grown in after back-filling the hole. Bio-tone fertilizer is recommended to be used at planting to provide the much needed mycorrhiza fungus that naturally protects plant roots from diseases and pathogens.
