Salvia East Friesland Plants for Sale Online

Salvia East Friesland Plants are unique easy-to-grow plants that bring vivid colors to your summer yard. With a close resemblance to lavender, the plant produces stalks of intense violet purple blooms. The popular perennials bloom in early june and last into late summer.

Nicknamed 'Meadow Sage,' these bold bushy plants are easy-to-grow and very tolerant to a wide variety of growing conditions. Most impressive--these flowering plants grow well in high temperatures. Where many other plants might suffer from heat stress, the Salvia East Friesland thrive. These plants are also extremely cold hardy. There's nothing these perennials can't handle.

Ideal care practices for the Meadow Sage include planting in a moist but well-drained soil and giving the plant full sun or mostly sunny conditions. The Salvia East plants are very hardy though and are both drought tolerant and will accept many soil mediums.

The Salvia East Friesland plants are perfect for use in perennial borders, cottage gardens, butterfly gardens, and wild gardens!

Additional Information

Deer Resistant Salvia East Friesland Plants

Easily grown in average, dry to medium, well-drained soil in full sun. Tolerates drought. Prefers moist, gravelly or sandy soils with good drainage. Plants may repeat bloom throughout the summer, but need regular moisture to encourage this. Remove spent flower spikes to help extend the bloom period. Plants may become somewhat floppy and open up as the summer progresses, particularly in humid climates. If plants flop or otherwise depreciate in summer to the point where they look unsightly, consider cutting them back to the basal foliage. In any event, cut plants back after flowering has concluded. Salvia East Friesland plants are sterile and do not set seed. Salvia East Friesland is an erect, clump-forming perennial salvia that is noted for its compact form, long bloom period, purple stems and violet-purple flowers. It typically forms a foliage mound to 10” tall. Wrinkled, lance-shaped, light green leaves (to 4” long) are aromatic. Dense terminal spikes of violet-purple flowers rise above the foliage to 18” tall over a long June to September bloom period.

Flowers are attractive to bees and butterflies. The Perennial Sages are invaluable perennials for their rich display in the border. Plants form a bushy clump of grey-green leaves, with upright spikes appearing in early summer, attractive to both butterflies and hummingbirds. This German selection has a nice compact habit, and flowers of deep violet-purple. Remove faded flowers to encourage repeat blooming, or simply cut back hard after flowering is finished. Plants are reasonably drought tolerant, once established. Excellent for cutting. You'll love salvia east Friesland as much as we do.
