Dragons Blood Sedum for Sale Online

Dragon's Blood Sedum (Sedum spurium) is a mat-forming perennial plant that features bright green foliage with rosy edges. As the year progresses, the burgundy will fill in and the entire foliage will be burgundy-purple. While the plant is evergreen zones up to 9, it is possible that the plant dies back in the coldest areas of the country. However, when the spring returns, so will the foliage.

Although the colorful foliage makes this sedum stand apart, the flowers are equally as beautiful. In the summer, flower buds emerge a brilliant red color, rising up just a few inches above the dense mat foliage. Then in no time, electric pink blossoms burst through adding even more color to this impressive plant.

While the Dragon's Blood Sedum prefers full sun and rich, well-drained soil, it is persistent in a number of conditions. Also known as stonecrop, Sedum spurium is extremely low maintenance, drought-tolerant, able to resist pesky weeds, and flourish in light shade. This makes them a perfect choice for rock gardens, border gardens, or around footpaths (although they will not do well under heavy foot traffic).

In ideal conditions, this sedum plant can be a fast grower but is not considered invasive. If it grows beyond the desired location, simply block the roots, or opt for container planters. In container gardens, the fleshy foliage will gently cascade for a dynamic look against rising grasses and garden "thrillers". If you are looking for a continuous ground cover look, space Dragon's Blood Sedum 12 Inches apart.
