Dormancy Notice: This plant, like many others, enters dormancy or semi-dormancy in the late fall through early spring. *THIS PLANT IS NOT DEAD. It is completely healthy but upon receiving the plant, you may notice it exhibits fewer leaves, discoloration, or complete leaf drop. This is normal and essential to the plant's health. In fact, planting during dormancy promotes root growth, giving your plant a better start for spring, when new foliage will begin to grow.

Incrediball Hydrangea Shrubs for Sale Online

Incrediball® Hydrangea (Hydrangea Arborescens Abetwo) is a stunning native hydrangea shrub and also a bit of a prodigy. As an improved version of the Annabelle Hydrangea, this hybrid shrub bears huge blooms held by sturdy stems.

These Proven Winners shrubs produce white flower heads as wide as 12 inches in diameter. The size of these flowers will surely blow your mind. A mature Hydrangea Incrediball can have up to 80 large flower clusters on a single shrub.

Excellent care for the Incrediball® Hydrangea includes full sun and well-drained soil. Layering on mulch will help compensate for water loss in hot temperatures and protect the plant's roots from cold winters. Additionally, we recommend pruning cuts to your flowering shrubs in early spring each year for optimal growth.

Another reason to love this giant Hydrangea is its ability to bloom on new wood. Shrubs that bloom on new wood can be pruned in fall, winter, or early spring without losing flowers in cold climates. These flowers also make for gorgeous cut flower arrangements.

How to Care for Incrediball® Hydrangea

Be sure to read our planting instructions to ensure a healthy and happy plant for years to come!

When should I water my Incrediball Hydrangea?

When should I water my Incrediball Hydrangea?

After planting the Incrediball Hydrangea, give it a slow, deep watering. Most of the water you put on the plant at first will run away from the plant until the soil is soaked. A general rule of thumb is to count to 5 for every one gallon of pot size. For example a one gallon pot would be watered until you count to 5 a three gallon pot would be 15 and so on. Check the plant daily for the first week or so and then every other day there after. Water using the counting method for the first few weeks. Gator bag Jr. can be used to help aid in this process and also provide plants with a good soaking due to the slow release of the water into the root-zone of the plant.

When should I mulch my Incrediball Hydrangea?

When should I mulch my Incrediball Hydrangea?

We highly recommend that you mulch your Incrediball Hydrangea with either a ground hardwood mulch or a ground cypress mulch depending on your local availability. Any type of mulch will do but cypress or hardwood mulch will be of a higher quality and provide better nutrition overall as they breakdown. Mulching helps to keep weeds away which will compete with your new investment for water and nutrients. A 2 to 3 inch layer of mulch is sufficient but remember to take care not to cover any part of the stem of the plant with mulch. Its better to leave a one inch gap of space between the mulch and the stem or trunk of the plant.

When should I fertilize my Incrediball Hydrangea?

When should I fertilize my Incrediball Hydrangea?

Incrediball Hydrangea grows best if it is fertilized once or twice in the summer. Although some authorities recommend special fertilizer mixes to get the maximum results, hydrangeas do amazingly well with a more relaxed approach. Apply an early spring fertilizer with a product such as Espoma Tree-tone or Plant-tone at the recommended rate this will give the plant a boost of nitrogen that will be needed for healthy abundant foliage. Follow this up with a early summer application of Espoma Plant-tone, this will provide the necessary nutrients and raise the nitrogen in the soil which hydrangeas favor. Slow-release fertilizer can help prevent rapid sucker growth that is vulnerable to diseases and insects. Don’t fertilize Incrediball Hydrangea bush after August. Fall is the time for hydrangeas to begin preparing for dormancy. Fertilizing at this time may stimulate new growth that will be too tender to withstand the winter. In the South, a late May application and another in July would be about right. More northern areas may wish to fertilize only once in June or July.

How should I plant my Incrediball Shrub?

How should I plant my Incrediball Shrub?

We suggest when planting your newly purchased Incrediball Hydrangea plants that you dig a hole twice as wide as the root system but not deeper. Depending on the quality of your existing soil you may need to add a locally sourced compost or topsoil to the back-fill soil. We do not recommend using straight topsoil or compost as a back-fill soil because more times than not these products will retain entirely to much moisture and will cause the root system to rot. Adding compost or topsoil will help the young feeder roots of Incrediball Hydrangea to spread through the loose, nutrient rich soil, much easier than if you used solely the existing soil which more times than not will be hard and compacted. The most common cause of plant death after transplanting is planting the new plant to deep. That is why we do not recommend planting in a hole any deeper than the soil line of the plant in the pot.
