Lipstick Plants for Sale Online

Lipstick Plants (Aeschynanthus radicans) are known for their bright red, tubular flowers that look like tubes of lipstick. They do particularly well in hanging baskets or other containers where the long vines can swing freely and boast glossy green leaves.

During the spring and summer, these indoor plants are actively growing, especially when you grow lipstick plants in their optimal humid and bright environment. Otherwise, they are easy-going and sure to bring you abundant blooms that will add color to your home.

The petals of the flower are spotted with maroon and yellow and are very attractive as well. When the blooms subside in the winter, the trailing green foliage has its time to shine.

How to Care for Lipstick Plants

Before you buy a Lipstick Plant, make sure to read about the recommended care instructions to keep this plant healthy and flourishing.

What Is The Best Light For Lipstick Plants?

What Is The Best Light For Lipstick Plants?

Lipstick Plant needs bright, indirect light from a windowsill. Northern or eastern facing windows would be ideal conditions, the perfect amount of light to encourage bud and bloom production. A shaded western or southern window might work as long as no strong, direct sun touches the leaves. Direct sun will burn the leaves while too little light prevents the plant from flowering.

How Do I Water Lipstick Plants?

How Do I Water Lipstick Plants?

Lipstick Plant likes to dry out occasionally between watering. It does not like to stay or sit in water or get too dry. Lipstick Plants that are watered too often usually experience root rot, meaning they will die. Originally from tropical conditions, Lipstick Plant does like high humidity. Pebble trays or having the plant in the kitchen or bathroom which are normally more humid work well.

How Do I Fertilize Lipstick Plants?

How Do I Fertilize Lipstick Plants?

Any all-purpose fertilizer will work for Lipstick Plants. Indoor houseplant fertilizers fall into two groups: water-soluble, quick release liquid fertilizer, and granular, slow-release fertilizers. Jack's Classic Indoor plant food works well as a powder, quick release fertilizer that is mixed with water to quickly provide nutrients to a plant that has been in a container for an extended time. Osmocote Indoor/Outdoor is an option as a granular, slow-release fertilizer that can be applied while potting and planting. Any type of fertilizer offers nutrients that help plants with the transition to a new environment.

What Is The Best Soil For Lipstick Vine?

What Is The Best Soil For Lipstick Vine?

Lipstick Plants need well-draining soil and prefer to have slightly moist conditions. Regular potting soil mixes with sphagnum moss added or African Violet potting mix works well. Make sure that the soil is light and aerated, as heavier soils do not drain well enough for this plant.

The plant looks great though without flowers. I can't say it's a disappointment because it is so healthy and sturdy and vigorous that even without flowers it looks wonderful. So far, all the plants I have bought are absolutely gorgeous. I am buying 6 inch plants whenever possible, and even though they cannot be considered mature they are thriving.

Hoping this becomes a lush, long, flowering plant! So far healthy looking and green but hasn’t filled out yet. Happy with the purchase
