Full Description

Bromeliads are eye-catching, unique houseplants that work especially well in contemporary, modern, and tropical decor styles. Bromeliads have colorful, long-lasting blooms that can last upwards of a couple weeks. You'll typically see them flower in vibrant shades of pink, red, orange, white, purple and yellow. Bromeliads also improve indoor air quality, helping clear air of indoor pollutants such as formaldehyde. If you move your Bromeliad outside pay careful attention during long, hot, dry periods. It may be necessary to water the plant more frequently, especially if it is flowering. Mulch the soil to reduce evaporation. Be mindful of the drainage of your container because saturated soil can increase root rot. Bromeliads are often epiphytic and cling to trees or other structures. They are not parasitic but simply use the structures as perches from which to gather sun and moisture. The broad leaves are sword-like and grow around a central “cup.” This cup catches water in the plant’s habitat. They have also been known to do well as air plants (no soil) with just misting from time to time.
