Information on our best selling Blueberries:
Bluecrop Blueberry: Medium grower with large, light blue sweet berries. Self-pollinating, high yielding. Ripens in mid-season. Beautiful red fall foliage and red stems. Flowers provide nectar for pollinators and branches provide shelter and nesting sites for birds. Semi-evergreen in milder climates.
Climax Blueberry: Very few blueberry cultivars produce huge tightly crowded clusters of berries that contain as many as 100 medium size berries per cluster as compared to the Climax Blueberry plant. The Climax cultivar is a USDA introduction of Rabbit-eye blueberry bushes that was developed with the idea of producing an entire crop of berries that ripen at once.
Duke Blueberry: Duke blueberry is an early-season variety and is extremely popular in the Mid-Atlantic region. It is high-yielding and hardy. The attractive fruit is medium to large, light blue, and slightly tart. Berries are very firm and retain their quality better than most other varieties.
Premier Blueberry: This early to mid-season ripening blueberry variety is a must-have for any blueberry-lover. The large, light blue fruit is as delicious as it is attractive. The foliage is lovely and the shrub generally carefree. You can’t go wrong trying one of these amazing blueberry varieties. Premier truly is a “premier” blueberry for your yard this year!
Pink Lemonade Blueberry: So pretty—so unique! This new pink blueberry provides year-round beauty and interest. Pinkish-white, bell-shaped blooms appear in spring. Summer brings pale green fruit that quickly turns deep pink for harvest. Autumn leaves are bright orange and red. Fruit is deliciously sweet and mild; nice firm texture.
Berries Galore Blueberry: A combination planting of 3 different corymosum blueberries. An early, mid and late producer that will ensure a long berry picking season. Provides a “berry” long berry picking season!
Jelly Bean Blueberry: these little blueberry wonders are prolific – producing a bumper crop of large, flavorful blueberries mid-summer with super sweet flavor like homemade blueberry jelly.
Peach Sorbet Blueberry: A seasonal array of colors! Growing season foliage ranges from peach to pink, orange, and emerald green. Fall color takes on an eggplant purple to pink shade. Grow several as a hedge or use individual plants as focal points.
How to Care for your Blueberry Shrubs:
Blueberries are best planted in Full to Partial Sun as this is needed to produce a bumper crop of berries. Very little is needed as far as care is concerned.. A supplemental watering is sometimes beneficial during periods of prolonged drought and during fruiting. If after many years your blueberry shrubs seem tired and aren’t producing as well they can be pruned hard. Doings this in the spring is the best opportunity as the plant has the most vigor during the spring and you don’t risk cutting off the berry producing blooms. Blueberries benefit from a supplement of acid in the soil. This can be accomplished with applications of Soil Acidifier by Espoma.
